Coaching FAQ's
The Frequently Asked Questions section is designed to help with any initial questions you might be thinking of. If your question isn’t listed below please get in touch. To find out more how Life Coaching has helped people why not take a look at some of our testimonials?
What is life coaching?
Life coaching is about being clear on what you to achieve in life, making plans and then doing it. Consider the following questions:
- What would you like to change?
- What would you like to have?
- What would you like to do?
- Who would you like to be?
Coaching helps you to find a way to make the things that you wish for a reality so that you can achieve your goals and purpose in life.
It’s about focusing on areas in your life where you are dissatisfied, frustrated or unhappy, where you feel you would like things to be different, and taking positive steps to turn your situation around.
Life coaching is different to counselling or psychotherapy in that it focuses on your future and what you can achieve.
Who’s it for?
Coaching is for you if you’re ready and committed to making a positive change in your life. Coaching is for anyone who wants to feel more fulfilled, to get more out of life, to gain momentum, to achieve a goal or simply to get clarity on where they are heading in life.
What can you help me with?
It can help you to:
- Find a better balance between work and your social life
- Further your career
- Better manage your time,
- Live a healthier lifestyle,

Why do people hire a life coach?
People hire a life coach to help them to achieve whatever it is that they would like to accomplish in life. Having a life coach helps you to focus on what’s important to you. It helps you to plan, prioritise, to take action and to get things done. It also helps you to feel more positive about yourself and those around you.
Coaching will:
- increase your motivation,
- increase your confidence
- encourage self-discipline
- give you a focus and a goal to work towards
- increase your self-esteem and self-worth
- challenge you to achieve more than you might otherwise achieve by yourself
How does it work?
We set up a coaching structure, which will begin with a discovery session about your life – looking at where you are now and what you want to achieve. We’ll then schedule coaching sessions to take place on a regular basis, normally weekly or fortnightly. On occasions, we’ll agree action points for you to complete between sessions, to help you to move forward, towards the things you really want from your life.
Coaching is a holistic process, so although you may come to coaching to focus on one particular area of your life, it is very likely to have a positive impact on other aspects of your life too.
Why can’t I do this by myself?
You can and there is no reason why you shouldn’t. However, hands up if you’ve ever set yourself a goal or a resolution and not achieved it or stuck to it?
If this is true for you, the reason for this is that it’s hard for us to prioritise the things that are important to us as life gets in the way. What’s more, if it’s something challenging or that we’ve never done before, we might start to talk ourselves out of it and we lose the momentum to keep on track.
Having me as your coach will keep you focused on your outcome and I will support you every step of the way, week-by-week. We’ll work on any feelings of self-doubt and the voices that tell you that ‘you can’t do it’ so that you can face any challenges knowing that you have somebody impartial, somebody who will listen and somebody who will encourage and inspire you take action.
Does it really work?
Absolutely! But don’t just take my word for it, have a look at what my clients have said on the Testimonials page. Or if you’re still sceptical, contact me to take up my special offer of a free 30-minute no-obligation consultation to talk about how coaching could personally benefit you. There’s no cost, so what have you got to lose?
What’s your approach to coaching?
As your life coach, I am not there to advise or tell you what to do. I will, however, help you to:
- Focus on what you want to achieve
- Increase your self-belief and build your confidence towards taking the first steps towards your goal
- Become more self-motivated
- Achieve more than you would by yourself
- Become more self-aware
- Find solutions
- Take action.
- We will work in partnership and in doing so I will:
- Support and encourage you to fulfil your potential
- Challenge you to do things, to make changes and to take action
- Listen for and identify the ways in which you may be limiting yourself and work on ways to overcome this
- Ask you powerful questions to change your thinking and enable you to look at your situation in a different way
How much does it cost?
Single coaching sessions start from £40 - £60. Additional savings can be made through block bookings – please contact me for further details.
Isn’t coaching quite expensive?
Compared to what? A coaching session costs no more than a night out, a trip to the hairdressers or a new pair of shoes, but with benefits that last for much longer. Yes, it is an investment, but if you’re serious about changing your future and are committed to achieving results, then think about the cost of not hiring a coach. Are you happy to be continuing along the same path that you’re currently on?
How many coaching sessions do I need?
Having a coach is a little bit like having a personal trainer for your life. We’ll set your goals at the outset and then work on the achievement of these goals each week. You will start to benefit from coaching, almost immediately, however the number of coaching sessions required will vary from person to person, depending on your needs and your desired outcome. The purpose, of course, is to help you to achieve your desired outcome in your desired timeframe and so we’ll discuss this in more detail, when we set up the coaching structure, to suit your needs.
If you simply want to gain clarity on an immediate issue or that you feel in need of a ‘booster’ session to keep you on track. This is fine too – you can book a single session as and when you need one.
Where does coaching take place?
Coaching takes place face-to-face and via the telephone. Personal Life Coaching sessions often take place over the telephone, which saves on travelling time and means that you can be coached in the comfort of your own home at a time to suit you.
Career, outplacement and corporate coaching will normally take place face-to-face.
Where are you based?
In Clapham, South-West London. However, life coaching often takes place over the telephone, saving on travel time and costs (see previous question).
What if I’m not based in London?
Don’t worry; if it’s personal coaching you’re after, I can still coach you over the telephone. If you have any concerns about how coaching works over the telephone please contact me.
